Learning Solution for Children with Dyslexia Moving To Read (MTR) Therapy Brings Remarkable and Lasting Changes to Over 100 Students
Del Mar, CA (PRWeb) March 22, 2007 -- A recent study involving over 100 children confirmed that Moving To Read (MTR) Therapy significantly improves children's learning abilities and reading effectiveness, including fluency, comprehension, spelling, and pronunciation by 1 to 3 grade levels. This latest conclusive study, confirming results of previous studies now totaling 900 children from seven different elementary schools, has scientifically confirmed the overwhelming success of MTR Therapy in improving children's reading and learning abilities.
Designed by Dr. Teri Lawton, MTR therapy is a software program and game that enhances the 'where' motion pathway of the brain, an area that has been identified as a cause of learning and reading problems such as dyslexia. By playing the fun and simple game, the brain's motion neurons are retrained to function more effectively for reading and comprehension. This directly improves children's academic abilities. "MTR therapy is designed to retrain the circuit of neurons to help readers determine the location of letters in a word and words on a page," reports Dr. Lawton, "MTR Therapy seems to cause a physiological change in neural timing that enables permanent improvements in the visual channels."
Teachers and parents of children who participated in the studies are astounded at the results that have been achieved. "Before the MTR therapy, Darcey's frustration with reading and all of her school work was overwhelming," recalls Sheila McCarthy, mother of 10 year-old Darcey. "What I've noticed most about her improvement, is the ease with which she is able to read words and as a result is developing a better understanding of what she is reading. Darcey has also noticed that learning math is much easier and her memory is better. Her teacher has noticed that she has no problem with memorizing and understanding, whereas last year this was a big problem."
Joe Ramirez and Marc Issacs, teachers from John Muir Elementary School, Santa Monica, CA, administered MTR Therapy in their classrooms and were "genuinely impressed by the large improvements in the reading fluency of our students." For children who had previously struggled with their work and experienced dwindling self-esteem as a result, the software allowed children to improve their academic skills while avoiding any 'special classes' or 'special treatment.' The software gives children the ability to comfortably, easily and significantly improve their comprehension abilities.
With the conclusive results of MTR's large-scale studies and its compelling findings, MTR Therapy has made waves within the scientific community. "Training Direction-Discrimination Sensitivity Remediates a Wide Spectrum of Reading Skills" has been published in the first issue of Optometry and Vision Development in 2007. A second clinical validation study will be published this year in the third issue. MTR Therapy is distributed nationwide to developmental optometrists and reading and learning centers as well as both public and private elementary and secondary schools. A national program to target all second graders is in the planning stages.
