Alaska Department of Labor & Workforce Development Provides State-Wide Training with IntraLearn Learning Management System
Northboro, MA (PRWEB) March 4, 2008 -- IntraLearn Software Corporation (ISC), a leading provider of eLearning software applications, today announced that the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DOLWD), Division of Employment Security, has implemented the IntraLearn Learning Management System. The software is currently being used to deliver new-hire and enrichment courses to employees.
IntraLearn was selected as the platform to build, manage and track a stable curriculum that employees can access from remote locations. Choosing to own and maintain the software rather than enter into leasing arrangements that other vendors offered, provided the department with the peace-of-mind and security that they required.
"IntraLearn allows us to provide consistent training and training materials to employees spread throughout the state while reducing the frequency and necessity of travel," said Nancy Davis Employment Security Analyst with the Alaska DOLWD. "We plan to continually develop our collection of courses and expand our audience."
"Alaska is an expansive state where the difficulty of face-to-face training is accentuated," said Evan Lenson, ISC's Vice President of Business Development. "IntraLearn is an affordable solution that provides the DOLWD with a customizable system that delivers readily accessible training while reducing costly travel expenses."

Learning from the past
Looking along my bookshelf, my eye was caught by a title, Triumph Over Fear: A Book of Help and Hope for People with Anxiety, Panic Attacks and Phobias by Jerilyn Ross originally published by Bantam Books in 1994. When I picked it up again, I was surprised to see how long ago it was published. It seems to have survived in my memory well as striking a good balance between the use of medications and the need for more resources to be diverted into cognitive behavioural therapy. Hospitals are often under pressure and it is economically convenient to limit treatment to oral medications. The moment you start talking about small group or one-to-one counselling, the staff overheads just take off.
