TH_NK Launches Research Drive for the Learning and Skills Council's 'Train To Gain' Campaign

(PRWeb) November 29, 2006 -- Leading North East brand technology company, TH_NK, is implementing a major research project to uncover what really makes employers across the North East of England tick, as part of the Learning and Skills Council's (LSC) 'Train to Gain' service.

The project, which launches today in the form of an online survey, will reach over 5,000 employers across the North East and has been designed by TH_NK to analyse the needs of the region's businesses as well as assessing their current knowledge of training provision and funding in the region. The findings will provide vital insights that will assist in the development of the LSC's Employers Guide to Training website. This new website is being introduced to help meet government aims of boosting productivity and competitiveness by giving employees the skills they need to succeed. The website will ultimately help regional employers select suitable training providers to meet their training needs and will act as an invaluable resource for regional businesses.

Through encouraging people to participate online, the research is not only geared up to drive traffic to the new website but is also an effective way to gain early insight from potential website users on appropriate site content and structure to ensure it matches the needs of the region's employers. The results of the research project will ensure the site becomes the first point of call for regional employers when they recognise a skills gap within their business and a trusted resource that provides the information required to make an investment decision.

The survey can be completed by visiting http://research.thinkco.com/lsc and will be online until Friday 8th December.

Michael Mitchell, LSC Skills Director - Train to Gain, said: "The Employer Guide to Training website is an essential tool that will enable businesses from across the region to access up to date information about training. Employers will have available to them, at the click of a mouse, details about the availability and quality of training in their area, enabling them to make informed choices about what training best meet their skills needs and the needs of their workers. I believe this website will become invaluable to employers in the North East."

Elizabeth Smith, Assistant Regional Director of CBI, said: "Nationally employers spend £33bn a year on training through in house and external providers, when employers look to make decisions about which training providers to use they invariably have to wade through various sources of information to come up with a provider that can meet their needs exactly. We welcome the introduction of this Guide, as a first port of call for North East employers and we're also pleased that employers are having the opportunity to input into what the Guide will look like."

Online business is a whole different ballgame to traditional offline trading, despite the fact that the two share some basic similarities. Largely this can be categorised as a different approach to marketing, customer service and delivery on client requirements, and it is one way of doing business that all offline business owners can learn from in order to improve their business.
