New Learning Center Opens in Fort Worth, Texas, to Help with Today's Technology

Fort Worth, TX (PRWeb) December 23, 2006 -- The technology gap is narrowing. With the Grand Opening of COMPUTERS MADE EASY (CME), in SW Fort Worth, seniors now have a welcoming place to learn computers, the Internet, digital cameras ... and even TV remotes. Located in the Westcliff Shopping Center, near TCU, the large retail space is part Internet cafe, part training center and part copy store. Customers can surf the Internet, make printouts, attend free seminars on basic computer skills, navigate the Internet or learn how to use Ebay.

"Everyone is welcome," said native Fort Worth owner David Vaughan, "and especially seniors who might need a slower pace to master new technology."

With the proliferation of computers, cell phones and digital cameras, it can be daunting to learn even the basics. It's just as much a "communication gap" as it is a "technology gap." People rely on email and cell phones to keep in touch with family and friends and digital photos to share our trips and special occasions. For children and grandchildren, it's natural to want to help parents and grandparents 'join the revolution,' but the gift of that computer or camera, with promises of "We can email each other pictures" comes with the hidden cost of training and tech support.

"Most of our customers have computers," said Mr. Vaughan, "but they are either under utilized or have become just one more thing to dust."

Family members don't often have the time (or patience) to really 'train' ... it's more of 'Oh, that's easy. Just click here, and here, here. See?' Enter COMPUTERS MADE EASY. The concept offers a place where customers can come, surf the Internet, ask questions and learn some new skills. And it's not just for seniors. Many of us have been 'around computers,' but don't use them often enough to retain the knowledge. The goal of COMPUTERS MADE EASY is to demystify the onslaught of technology and take a slower pace approach to computer training. Located in a retail storefront with ample parking, customers can drop in for a cup of coffee, check their email, make some printouts and get back to life.

The store is located in southwest Fort Worth, south of TCU, in the Westcliff Shopping Center at 3548 South Hills Ave., #14 (across from Minyards). Winter hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. The 3,600 sq. ft. facility is wheelchair accessible, with low countertops, an ADA restroom, free coffee (donations accepted). CME even offers S&H Greenstamps. Of course, even Greenstamps have gone digital. They're now called S&H Greenpoints ... and you use the Internet to access your account. Not as messy as the stamps, even though half the fun was licking them. For more information, visit www.cmefw.com or call 817.386.2530.
